It was a strange thing when you were outside of a timeline, watching the others that did what they could to affect it. Driving to Cabeswater was good practice, so Noah was in the passenger seat of the 300 Fox Way car, buckled up for safety or possibly irony as Blue drove. It was just the two of them today. He was willing to try Blue's idea to go for his Mustang again, but he didn't want the others around if... if the worst happened.

Blue seeing it would be bad too, but his love and trust of her outweighed that shame.

"Almost there," he murmured, leaning against the window.

Loki had brought Alex something thought extinct on earth. A full family of draconic creatures, a species whose females had never had to evolve to provide camouflage. Possibly because this species was very tiny. And from another plane of existence, which as far as Alex knew, the Covenant of St. George had yet to figure out how to access in order to "cleanse" it. Or, if they had, they hadn't gotten very far.

Alex had gotten his patients to the incubation tank he'd used to hatch the basilisks, altered to provide the wyverns with as comfortable of an environment as possible. High-grade terrarium substrate was covered in a thin coating of gold dust, as well as a few chains, coins and other items that had been either in storage for trading with Dragon princesses, or bought last-minute with Price Emergency funds. It wasn't the plush Scrooge-McDuck-worthy stashes of the New York or LA dragon nests, but it would (hopefully) be enough to keep them comfortable until they were strong enough to travel.

He also had some antibiotics he was administering to all of them, almost certain there had to be some opportunistic infections going on, especially in the hatchling.

"You know," he said to Loki as he mixed medication, gold dust and mealworms together in a plastic tub, "I haven't forgotten about the bush vipers."

The park is nice this time of day, don't you think? Matt certainly seems to think so, if the way his face is turned into the sun is any indication. He can't see it, but the pleasure of a warm sunbeam is far from lost on him, the way it makes his skin heat up, the one side of his glasses doing the same, making the other side feel all the cooler by comparison...
